The iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 - Will They Share the Same Design and Features?

When the iPhone 4S was released by Apple in October of last year, many were disappointed to see that Apple's latest smartphone looked exactly like its predecessor. Due to this, you may be thinking if this will be the same for the iPhone 5. Let's find out.

Apple's current smartphone sports a 3.5 inch retina display just like its predecessor. Although it still sports a retina display, many users wish they had a bigger screen since the competition offers more real estate. Examples of these smartphones are the Samsung Galaxy Nexus with its 4.65 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen and the Samsung Galaxy Note with its 5.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen. This allows users to enjoy more from games, movies, the web, and more. Since the 4S sports a 3.5 inch display, will this be the same case with Apple's 5th generation smartphone?

According to reports, this will not be the case. Sources say that the upcoming handset will sport at least a 4 inch touch screen. Several prototypes of the rumored handset all have one thing in common. This is a 4 inch display. So will the next Apple handset sport the same display as the iPhone 4S? We don't think so.

In terms of processing power, Apple's current phone comes packed with the dual-core A5 chip just like the iPad 2. Its predecessor only sports the A4 single-core chip. Will Apple make use of the same A5 chip on their fifth generation smartphone? There are several rumors surrounding the upcoming smartphone's processor. Some say that Apple will make use of the quad-core A6 chip. However, there have been leaked images of the A5S chip that is a minor upgrade of the A5. Unfortunately, there's no way to confirm these reports. However, we can say that the upcoming handset will definitely sport more impressive hardware.

When it comes to the phone's camera, there are rumors that claim the iPhone 5 will sport a 13 megapixel camera. Others also claim that it will sport a slightly enhanced camera compared to the 4S. Again, there's no way to confirm if these reports are true or not. However, we'll say again that it is sure to sport enhanced features.

In terms of design, it was previously believed that Apple's next smartphone would sport a teardrop design. However, according to the Cupertino firm's supply line, the design is more symmetrical.

So what's the verdict? Will the iPhone 5 sport the same design and features compared to the iPhone 4S? In terms of features, the next generation smartphone is sure to sport more enhanced features and more powerful hardware. In terms of the phone's overall design, we'll just have to wait until the phone is officially unveiled to see if the rumors are true or not.
